Landscape Photographer of the Year 2010 competition

This year I entered the ‘Take-a-View’ Landscape Photographer of the Year competition and I’m delighted to say that I received a highly commended and a commended for two of my entries. The images will be featured in the exhibition at the National Theatre and will also be published in this year’s accompanying book. My highly commended image of a highland cow having just given birth was shot with an infrared converted Canon 20D, it was a special moment for me having crawled up the hill to get close to the highlander only to discover there was a new delivery over the brow…

New Delivery

My commended image is a black and white landscape from a while back. Taken on the Dales Way walking route in the Yorkshire Dales, I remember the bitterly cold wind blowing whilst in the distance you can see the approaching snow storm releasing it’s load on the hills above Grassington. Minutes later the whole place was white over which lead to a precarious walk down the valley and an extremely long journey home…

A case of close but no cigar with the 1st & 2nd prizes, however, I am looking forward to receiving my copy of the book signed by the doyen of English landscape photography Charlie Waite.
